Be able to take a Deposit
As of now, when you take a payment for partial invoice it turns it into a sale for the day. The sale doesn't need to be made until full payment is made. The partial invoices and partial payments are not integrated with QuickBooks and do not come over. We are paying sales tax on payments that are not received yet. Most companies pay tax on a Cash Basis. The Invoice should not show as a sale for that day until completely sold out. Taking Deposit on a Ticket would be helpful. We should be able to take the deposit and refund it if necessary
Hello Everyone,
We have introduced “Deposits” functionality in RepairDesk that will allow you to charge a diagnostic fee/benchmark fee while booking a repair job.
You can learn more about the feature from the following knowledgebase article:-

Will this be implemented by the 1st September?
Almost 2 years on since I came onboard and specifically asked about this, being told it was on the roadmap.
Almost 2 years since someone submitted this idea. How long is the roadmap?
Come on guys - this is a basic, standard feature in every other POS.
I don't want to have to use two different software packages to manage my deposit scheme - it is all or nothing.
There are a few other repair POS systems that offer everything required, although they are slightly more expensive it would pay back in saved time and reduction of errors. -

Not being able to take deposits is an administrative nightmare for shops that allow payment schemes or Christmas clubs.
We allow customer to reserve a phone with a deposit and pay off weekly or monthly, keeping the cash in an envelope then processing that sale when it is fully paid.
Customers can change their mind.
There may be deposit penalties if they change their mind.
Adding it as a sale then taking payments isn’t a solution. We have to manually keep a record of payments received and due... it’s 2019, this is basic stuff for a POS system!
I asked for this when I first signed up 2 years ago.
I asked for this again in August last year.
I asked for this again a few months ago and was told it would “not be completed this quarter” with no firm answer as to when exactly it would be implemented.I need this sorted by the end of July. If it isn’t I will have to find a different solution as I don’t want the headache of manually sorting deposits like I had to do last year.

Will this be implemented within the next 30 days? My customers are starting to come into the shop putting deposits down on Trade Ins for Christmas Club - I'll need a proper way of tracking deposits that doesn't involve creating full invoices!
-
@eric: You can certainly take a deposit. From the point of sale please perform all steps like you do for creating a repair ticket however you should click on checkout so that you can enter deposit amount and it will also create a repair ticket and an invoice.
Please reach out to our live chat for further assistance with this

Oh wow. First day with this and if I can’t take a deposit on a repair I won’t be able to use this software.

This is correct. But when you cancel the invoice (refund), will it also be refuned with tax component?

kevin commented
Being able to take a deposit and have it added to a customer account as store credit is essential - and as Kristan says, it should not be taxed until it has been spent, just like Gift Vouchers are not taxed until exchanged for a good or service.
