In Stock, Stock Warning, Re-Order Level?
What do these fields mean?
Does "In Stock" = physically on hand or on hand minus allocated to jobs?
It would also help to have a field for inventory "in transit and/or on order"
Does "Stock Warning" = minimum stock level/re-order point?
Does "Re-order Level" = maximum stock level/order up to level?

I agree. I think it's broken at the moment.Re-order level currently means order up to level.

Also, some basic inventory forecasting logic would go a long way toward making this functionality "functional".
Maybe use a rolling weekly or monthly average as a basic forecast.
Add lead time for each part to calculate safety stock, i.e. average weekly/monthly demand X lead time. This would equate to a minimum re-order point/trigger.
Add order lead time, i.e. repair shop orders once a week, so lead time = 7 days to calculate a suggested maximum inventory level.
