How to move Trade in items to Inventory

You can choose to move purchased trade in items to inventory, to do so Click on Action > Move to Inventory

You will get 4 options here:
  • Create a new serialized item
  • Add to an existing serialized item
  • Create a new non-serialized item
  • Add to an existing non-serialized item

    1. Create a new serialized item

If you want to create a new serialized item, from the pop up select ‘create a new serialized item’ All instock items will be available to be made serials against.

2. Add to an existing serialized item.

If you want to add a product to an existing item, click ‘Add to existing serialized item’
A pop up will appear asking you to add an existing serialized item against which the trade in will be mapped.

The details will be mapped as shown:

3. Create a new non-serialized item

4. Add to an existing non-serialized item

Relevant information from the trade-in will be mapped to the new item:

  • Item name will be mapped to the item name field.
  • Manufacturer will be mapped to the manufacturer field.
  • Device will be mapped to the device model field.
  • Condition on purchase will be mapped to the condition field.
  • The cost price will be mapped to their respective field.

Relevant information from the trade-in will only be mapped to the existing trade-in item only if any of the following information will not be available:

  • Item name will be mapped to the item name field if it is not available in the existing item.
  • Manufacturer will be mapped to the manufacturer field if it is not available in the existing item.
  • Device will be mapped to the device model field if it is not available in the existing item.
  • Condition on purchase will be mapped to the condition field if it is not available in the existing item.

The cost price will be mapped to their respective field if it is not available in the existing item. If the existing item has a price of 0, and the trade-in has a price of $899, the existing inventory’s prices will be updated to reflect $899. In the case where both prices are different the system will utilize your chosen costing method (LIFO/FIFO/WACC) to deduce prices.
