Can a register shift stay open for multiple days?

1

The system will allow you to enter the actual amount available.

2

You must enter a reason in the Notes section (e.g., "Cash counted incorrectly in the previous shift.").

Are manual cash transactions recorded?

Yes. Every Cash In and Cash Out transaction is automatically recorded in the Transaction Log Report under the corresponding shift.

What happens if there is a discrepancy when closing the shift?
  • The Difference (Over/Short) field will display any variance.
  • The user can check the Transaction Log Report for errors.
  • Notes can be added for clarification before closing the shift.

What happens after closing the shift?
  • A Reconciliation Report is generated.
  • If enabled, an alert is sent via email or SMS to the store owner.
  • The shift details are stored in the Z-Report for auditing.

Can I reopen a shift after closing it?

No. Once closed, a shift cannot be reopened. A new shift must be started for further transactions.

How can another employee end a shift they didn’t start?

The employee must have access to the cash register and must join the shift to access ‘End Shift’ action in the 9-dots menu. They will be required to verify the total at the end of the shift before closing it.

All shift closures will be reflected in:

What happens when an employee ends a shift that someone else started?
  • The original shift starter (Employee A) will receive a notification that their shift has been ended by Employee B.
  • The system will prompt Employee A to start or join a new shift if they wish to continue working.

What if the original shift starter (Employee A) has ongoing transactions when another employee (Employee B) tries to end the shift?

If Employee A has active transactions, the system will notify Employee B and prevent the shift from closing until the transactions are completed or reassigned.

Can store owners or managers force-close any shift?

Yes, a Super User (such as the store owner or manager) can now end any active shift directly from the Z-Report.

Super User Ending Shift

Will employees be required to start or join a new shift after ending the previous one?

This depends on the store settings. In Cash Register Configurations, if the trigger for making ‘Start/Join Shift’ mandatory is turned on, then an active shift will be required.
