If you sell new or refurbished handsets, laptops, or gaming consoles, keeping track of essential details like IMEI or serial numbers, item color, size, warranty duration, and condition is crucial. With serialization in RepairDesk, you can accurately trace inventory from supplier to sale, print receipts with device details, and easily distinguish identical products from different suppliers.
Add serial numbers to your inventory
1. Go to Inventory > Manage Inventory > Products
2. Open an item by clicking on its item ID or through Action > Update.
3. Go to Stock Inventory tab
4. Select 'Yes' against Manage Serialized Inventory for this item? and hit Save. You can also create serials while adding a new item to the inventory.
5. Once an item has been saved, and marked for serialization, you will see a notification informing you that items are available for serialization.
6. Now hit Create Serials.
7. On Create Serials screen you can select the cost price, supplier, add additional information such as color, size, network and condition. Important information such as Retail Price and Warranty will also be stored. Once an item is brought on POS, this information will also be displayed..
8. Scroll down to see the option to either auto create serials, select range or enter manual serials.
9. In case of auto serials, you will just need to number of serials you want to make. the format for these serials will be system generated which is Item ID+ supplier ID + Serial ID
10. You can also create serials by providing the range. If the user has already made some serials for item, the system will show the last serial as start range so that the next serials shall start onwards.
10. Hit Save to generate serials
11. Serials can be generated for the remaining handsets in a similar way.
12. In case of manual serials, you can manually enter serial numbers. one per line, of any format you choose to. When you go back to Stock Inventory page, under Item Serials, you will see all the serials generated against the inventory stock along with product and vendor details. When a serialized item is sold, it automatically updates its status.
Under Admin History, you can see all the system updates for this inventory item.
Update Pricing
We've added the ability to Automatically Update Retail Price for All Available Serials associated with an inventory item. When users modify the retail price in the item details page, the system prompts them to confirm whether they want to apply the new retail price to all associated serials. If the user selects "yes," the retail price for all on-hand serials is updated accordingly.

If you wish to print barcodes for inventory items, simply select the serial numbers for which you wish to print barcodes, click on Settings and select Print Bar Codes from the drop-down menu.
The label design can be set from Settings > module configuration > Inventory

Showcase the unique custom attributes of your serialized inventory items directly on the label. Simply navigate to Settings > Module Configuration > Template Editor > Inventory serial label, and place the {{custom_attributes}} macro on your template.
On POS, in case no serial is selected for a serialized inventory item, your sales staff will be able to assign serial numbers when selling, or add serial numbers on the fly.
Yes, you can sell the item which is marked as serialized but the system will prompt regarding serial creation. You can either choose to Create Serials or tap Proceed Anyway.
Yes, you can create serials while receiving goods. If the received item is not marked as serialized but serialized while making GRN, in that case the item will be marked as serialized. Click Here to View how GRN works.
1. Scan the barcode or select your serialized item on POS and click on ‘Select Serial’.
2.Choose as many serialized items you wish to add to card, and click ‘Save Serials’.
