How to Use the Cash Register Module in RepairDesk?

The Cash Register Module in RepairDesk POS ensures that every dollar coming in and going out is accounted for, giving you total visibility over sales, expenses, and cash flow. With automated tracking, controlled access, and seamless reconciliation, you can eliminate errors, prevent discrepancies, and focus on growing your business instead of worrying about cash handling.

Make it Possible by:

Enabling the Cash Register Module:

  1. Go to Store Settings > Cash Registers
  2. If not enabled, toggle on the Cash Register Module
  3. Click Add Cash Register
  4. Add a name for the Cash Register, Select Stores and allocate employees who will have access to it
  5. Click Save Cash Register

Configuring Cash Register: 

  • Click on the "Configurations" tab in Cash Register settings.
  • Configure the settings to hide over/ short balance on closing register 
  • Configure the start and end shift options mandatory if desired.
  • Configure whether you'd like to display balance in the Cash Register along with floating balance.
  • Enable the option to automatically close the shift register at a specific time.
  • Set up SMS/Email reminders for employees using the Notification settings.
  • Configure the cash drawer settings based on currency, value, and positions in the cash drawer to keep all currency.

Starting a Register Shift:

  1. Navigate to the POS Screen
  2. A pop-up will display available registers
  3. Select a register and click Start Shift
  4. Verify and enter the opening cash balance

Closing a Register Shift:

  1. Click the 9-dot menu > End Shift
  2. Verify total cash and compare it to recorded transactions
  3. Resolve discrepancies and finalize reconciliation
  4. Download the Reconciliation Report or check the Z-Report for insights

Can multiple employees use the same cash register?

Yes! Employees can join an open shiftswitch users, or use the Access PIN to process sales securely.

What happens if I forget to close my register at the end of the day?

You can enable an automatic shift closure in settings to prevent unclosed shifts. Otherwise, you must manually close it before starting a new one.

How do I track all cash transactions made during a shift?

Use the Transaction Log Report for a detailed breakdown or check the Z-Report for a summary of all reconciliations.


Can I update a payment method after a transaction is completed?

Yes! Go to View Invoices > Payment History > Edit the payment method and save the changes.


Can I log an expense without starting a register shift?

Yes! Expenses can be logged separately and will still appear in the Expense Report for tracking.


How do I handle cash discrepancies at shift close?

The system will highlight over/short balances so you can investigate discrepancies using the Transaction Log Report.


Can I use the Cash In/Out feature without enabling register shifts?

Yes! You can add or remove cash anytime, even outside of a register shift.


What does hiding over/short balance entail?
If you select Yes, the over/short balance will not be displayed when you close the register. If you select No, the over/short balance will be displayed, and you will need to reconcile it before closing the register.
How can I add an online register to log online payments?
Store Settings > Cash Register > Configurations

Would you like to use online cash register to log online payments?

This setting allows you to use an online cash register to log online payments. If you select 
Yes, you will be able to log online payments in the online cash register. If you select No, you will not be able to log online payments in the online cash register.
Once you have configured the cash register settings, click Save Changes to save your changes.




Can I change the cash drawer settings according to my currency?
Default cash drawer settings are available in $ currency, but you can edit them based on your own currency and cash drawer setup.
Can I use the Cash In / Out module without the register shift functionality?
Absolutely! You can now use the cash in / out module without using the cash register. Simply tap on the Cash In / Out button and enter the amount you want to take out or put in the system.
Can I enter expenses without starting the register shift?
Certainly! You can enter the expense without using the shift functionality. You can also enter the expense in the back date which will be shown on the Expense Report as well.
Where can I keep track of all the cash register activities?
You can go to the Transaction Log or Z-report which will show you all the reconciliation reports and all your existing or previous shifts.
